Four Pleasantville Firefighters Honored for Rescuing Man Trapped in Burning Home

PLEASANTVILLE, NJ (May 30, 2017) – Pleasantville firefighters Peter Bowker, Gary Guerra, Stan Kolbe and Tom Tripician were honored with valor awards at the May 15th City Council meeting for rescuing a man from a burning building.

Firefighters braved the blaze, which broke out January 30th, 2017 in a three-story townhouse on Sixth Avenue, to rescue a man from the first floor through heavy smoke and fire. He suffered severe internal injuries and was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus and later to Crozer-Chester Burn Center in Pennsylvania for treatment.

“I’m extremely proud of the bravery and professionalism these firefighters showed in saving a man’s life under challenging circumstances,” said Fire Chief Stephen Wilkins Sr. “They are true heroes and we’re fortunate to have them on our team.”
